Link-Belt Excavators We Sell and Rent

Eleven Link-Belt excavators are in our rental fleet, from the 18,900-pound 80X3 to the 109,800-pound 490X4, and we sell Link-Belt’s full-size excavators, material handlers, and forestry machines new. For a rental, start with the job: the 145X4S and 170X4S for basements and deep services, the 220X4S to 250X4 for water and sewer mains, the 300X4S to 370X4S for mass excavation and loading trucks all day, and the 250X4 Long Front for dredging and slope work. On a tight job site, start with a minimum swing radius machine. For new machines, Link-Belt also builds heavy duty excavators for demolition, land clearing, and pipeline work. Every new Link-Belt excavator comes with a 5-year, 5,000-hour full machine warranty as standard.
Which Link-Belt to start with
Use the job to pick a starting machine, then compare your deepest cut and your job site with the figures in the fleet table further down.
| Work you are planning | Link-Belts in our rental fleet to start with |
|---|---|
| Basements, and services and laterals deeper than a compact machine digs | 145X4S, 170X4S |
| Water and sewer mains | 220X4S, 245X4, 250X4 |
| Mass excavation, deep utility work, and loading trucks all day | 300X4S, 355X4S, 370X4S |
| Large earthmoving and quarry work | 490X4 |
| Dredging and slope work | 250X4 Long Front |
| Beside a building, a wall, or a lane of traffic | 80X3, 145X4S, 245X4, 355X4S |
These are starting points. The deepest cut, the room on the job site, and how the machine gets there can change the answer.
Four of our rental Link-Belts are built to work in tight spaces. The 145X4S, 245X4, and 355X4S are minimum tail swing models, so the counterweight stays close to the tracks when the upper part turns. The 355X4S is the largest minimum swing radius excavator Link-Belt makes. The 80X3 is a Spin Ace, Link-Belt’s name for its smaller minimum swing radius excavators, and it is the one compact Link-Belt in our fleet: 18,900 pounds, 15 feet 4 inches of dig depth, and 7 feet 7 inches wide.

From the 220X4S up, these machines are wider than 8 feet 6 inches, so in Wisconsin they travel on an oversize permit. Our guide to excavator sizes covers the permits and the weight limits.
Link-Belt's lines
We sell each of these Link-Belt lines new.
- X4S and X4 excavators. Nine of our ten full-size rental Link-Belts are standard X4S or X4 excavators, and the tenth is the 250X4 Long Front. The X4 line goes up to 158,300 pounds, the largest Link-Belt we sell.
- Heavy duty. These are built for demolition, land clearing, heavy excavating, and pipeline work, and they run from 56,900 to 73,200 pounds.
- Long front. These have a much longer boom and arm, for dredging and slope work. They run from 52,000 to 88,400 pounds and dig 39 feet 5 inches to 47 feet 9 inches, and the 250X4 Long Front in our rental fleet digs the full 47 feet 9 inches.
- Material handlers. Link-Belt’s material handlers, for scrap operations, run from 73,200 to 126,216 pounds.
- Forestry machines. Link-Belt’s forestry machines run from 70,170 to 111,488 pounds.
The warranty
The 5-year, 5,000-hour full machine warranty is standard on every new Link-Belt excavator. Ask for the written terms when you price one, so you know what the warranty covers before you buy.
Support after the sale
New Link-Belt excavators include RemoteCARE, Link-Belt’s remote monitoring and security system, which shows where the machine is and how it is running.
We have received Link-Belt’s Triple Crown Award for outstanding customer support. We stock genuine Link-Belt parts, and our factory trained technicians service Link-Belts in our shops and on job sites. Financing on new machines is available through Link-Belt Excavator Financial Services.
What to tell us
Tell us the job, the deepest cut, how much room the machine has to swing, and how it will get to the job site. That tells us which Link-Belt fits the work. Rentals do not include an operator, and every rental machine has a rent-to-purchase option. Our guide to how renting works covers hours, fuel, insurance, and returns.
